Patras Pavilion
Ophidian Canopy
A Flexible Space
Patras, Greece
2004
This plan has no defined location or site. Because of its flexibility to adapt to any surrounding topography, it may be placed in any given location.
It is a building created by combining basic architectural principles with current technologies. Aside from its geographical flexibility, this structure can also handle various sorts of programs based on the requirements.
The goal is to design a modern construction that can serve as a shelter for any function. The physiology of the snake inspired this construction. The fundamental structure resembles the skeleton of a snake, giving the curling feature.
The ultimate solution is a curved semi-cylindrical unit consisting of metal, wood, and fabric that can be longitudinally stretched on its centre axis. The junction, which has the potential to offer an independent motion to the pieces with which it is connected, is the basic portion of the final solution and a vital point of the construction.
